Production Description:
This is the live stage show of Sam Raimi’s cult classic film trilogy.

Synopsis: Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It’s all up to Ash (a housewares employee turned demon-killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons are telling bad jokes… and all to music. The songs are hilariously campy and the show is bursting with more farce than a Monty Python skit. The show played off-Broadway in New York, has broken records in Toronto, has won awards in Korea and has had more than 200 productions mounted
across the globe. You don’t need to be a fan of “Evil Dead” to love this show. You don’t need to be a fan of horror to love this show. You don’t even need to be a fan of musicals to love this show. As long as you like having fun… this show is for you. Come get your ‘groovy’ on! Let there be chainsaw. Let there be boomstick. Let there be BLOOD!

REHEARSALS: Starting September 4th, Mondays through Thursdays at 7:00PM, some weekend rehearsals may be scheduled.

PERFORMANCE DATES: October 21 at 7PM, October 22 at 7PM and 10PM, October 28 and 29 at 7PM and 10PM, October 30 and 31 at 7PM. You MUST be available for all performance dates.

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a resume and headshot if you have them plus a list of any conflicts you have during the rehearsal dates. Remember, no conflicts during performances. Wear clothes and shoes you can dance in.

Character Breakdown:
Ash: Male, College student, Baritone, C#3-Bb4.
The hero and iconic character of the musical. This devoted S-Mart housewares employee evolves over the course of the show from a cowardly college student to a wisecracking deadite slayer with his detachable hand chainsaw and 12 gauge “boomstick.”

Linda: Female, College student, Soprano, A3-E5.
The girl next door. Linda is sweet, thoughtful, and completely devoted to Ash, until she turns evil and tries to kill him. She laughs an annoyingly inordinate amount of time after transforming.

Cheryl: Female, College student, Alto, G3-F#5.
Ash’s sister and the odd woman out in the group. Looking to spend a week relaxing, she is the recipient of Scotty’s jokes and torment. The only one to sense the evil surrounding the cabin, she is the first to be possessed, turning her into an aggressive, foul-mouthed demon that speaks in very bad puns. Spends the majority of the show locked in the cellar.

Scotty: Male, College student, Tenor, D3-G4.
Good looking, cocky, a prankster and Ash’s best friend. Thinks himself the brave one until he’s forced to kill, then his panic leads him to flee. He returns to warn Ash about the woods and attempts to help his friend even as he is knocking on death’s door.

Shelly: Female, Mid-20s, Mezzo-Soprano.
Sometimes also plays Annie. Hot bimbo and not too smart. She is Scotty’s latest fling and looking to party. Just because she becomes an evil demon doesn’t mean she can’t look good doing it!

Annie: Female, Mid-20s Mezzo-Soprano.
Sometimes also plays Shelly. Quite the overbearing, sexy explorer who finds missing pages to the Necronomicon and wants to reunite with her father to continue their research. Very bossy and drawn to Ash. Must be comfortable in a tear away semi-revealing costume.

Ed: Male, Mid-20s, Baritone, A2-F#4
Sometimes also plays Moose. Annie’s coworker, boyfriend, and doormat. He travels with her to the cabin to proceed with their research of the book of the dead. After turning evil, his confidence may lack but this “Bit Part Demon” is ready to sing!

Jake: Male, Mid-30s, Baritone, G#2-F#4.
Stereotypical Southerner and reliable enough to help Annie and Ed find the path to the cabin, but too stupid and stubborn to listen to reason that will keep him alive.

Fake Shemp: Chorus / Ensemble, Male, 21-45
Age is flexible; this role is basically all of the small roles in the show – Knowby, Airport Announcer, the Severed Hand, etc. Actor might be required to sing “Do the Necronomicon.”

*Some ensemble roles may be cast
